I’m not saying unit price is irrelevant—that would be absurd. Unit price is one input in a larger calculation. The old habit of getting three quotes and choosing the cheapest one comes from an era when suppliers were local and products were more standardized. That era is gone.

No manufacturer can guarantee every project outcome. But you can improve the odds by buying for performance, lead-time reliability, and warranty execution. That’s what a TCO-focused buying guide is for. And in B2B distribution, improving the odds is the whole game.
